Where it all began…

My journey into the world of photography started around the age of 10. Shooting black and white photographs with my dad’s old Olympus Trip 35. After a few years, lots of failures and successes and much learned through experience and at the age of 26, I turned my hobby into a professional business. At the time of going pro, portrait and wedding photography where my primary genres. But being a keen scuba diver, I decided to then try my hand at underwater photography and slowly underwater photography became my main genre. As a qualified diving instructor, I started presenting underwater photography as a diving speciality and also started working as the in-house photographer for a diving publication - Divestyle Magazine.

Unfortunately after a very serious motorbike accident, diving became rather difficult for me so I was gradually forced to explore other photography business options. It was around this time that I started getting seriously into aviation photography and shortly after jumping into aviation photography hook, line and sinker, I landed a position as the in-house photographer for an international aviation publication - World Airnews Magazine.

I subsequently left both publications to continue as a freelance photographer and have continued to work as a professional photographer in the aviation, industrial, commercial and travel sectors for a number of years now. I have also started getting back into the genres of portrait and wedding photography. My greatest love in photography is of course black and white photography. There is just something about a good black and white image that really grabs me. The way you can stare at the black and white image, and in your own mind, can colour in the image with colour that best reflect your personality and creative style.

My back ground has also not only been in photography and diving. I am also a qualified Avionic Radar Technician and spent a number of years working for the South African Airforce, Reutech Systems and SAAB Avitronics developing and producing Electronic Warfare Systems for various military clients.
